JONTY KRISTIAN MELLMANN - Orange Henley Polo Dress
yellow/orange long sleeve henley t-shirt dress with straps and polo riders
What happens when the illegitimate son of Ralph Lauren, Yung Meister US Polo Association decides to leave his sheltered castle full of lovely banquets, babes and bobbing lotus flowers on the pond? Well! Unlike the Buddha he decides to become a Hare Krishna and pursue a life of hopping, skipping and chanting a well known tune; although he does still appreciate a rice pudding sat cross legged under a tree. On his hero’s journey, filled with adventure, he grows from a small chest embroidery into a huge front print chaotically stitched onto a Ralph Lauren eBay bought t-shirt spliced and diced together with an old ‘sad face’ creation of mine (itself made from a minions t-shirt and another charity shop one or two) into a long sleeve top. Built out from there organically, this piece grew decorative straps out of the shoulders and down the sleeves, various stages of smiling face chakras down the back and eventually he went a bit awol and a little children’s toy embroidery duck told one of the riders to put a cabbage on his head. Jesus, take the wheel! I mean, reins!!! Yeehaw!

Materials - cotton jersey, drill and plaincloth with scrap fabrics and found bits and bobs. Charity shop buttons, elastic cord top button loop and digitally printed patches on deadstock stretch poplin. Polyester thread.
Care instructions - Hand wash is most ideal, if not, it will be fine if machine wash 40/cotton with like colours. I would generally avoid higher temperatures unless removing stains. The colour of this item is easily damaged and/or dulled if washed with darker colours. Dyes will likely run on first few washes, so no whites in with this one! Tumble drying will cause fabric to fray more, which I personally like but it can be a faf.
